Over at PPT some of what Paul D says in the article Indicative of What Ails the SBC: Johnny Hunt Denies the New Birth at Ohio Men’s Summit is illustrative of how Baptists have fallen for the Devil’s modification of Romans 8:1 hook like and sinker.
PD says “Christ did not die for sins we committed after we were born again.”
Why does he say this? Because he’s bought into the Devil’s modification of Romans 8:1 which in the Devil’s versions reads in full “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” So, in other words, no sin committed after baptism can ever condemn, so says Satan.
Hmmmm. What about 1st John 1:7??? “But if we keep walking in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son keeps cleansing us from all sin.”
The reason sin after baptism doesn’t condemn is because we keep walking in the light and his blood keeps cleansing us. That is, of course, assuming that we do keep walking in the light. But if we begin to commit grave sin and persist in it, we are condemned because we ceased walking in the light.
So long as our sins are trivial or we repent and forsake them, we are walking in the light and have that continual cleaning of Christ’s blood. But the one persisting in grave sin does not.
And let’s not forget how the modern agnostic translations have purposefully altered Romans 8:1 according to a decree from Satan himself.
KJV: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
ESV: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
The KJV is right. Th ESV is a lie from Satan.
There is indeed condemnation to those who are in Christ if they walk after the flesh and persist in grave sin. But to those who walk after the Spirit and thus keep walking in the light, the blood of Christ keeps cleansing them from all unrighteousness.
